Labor and Delivery RN — Night Shift
Position Overview
The facility's Labor and Delivery unit is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week contract. You'll work night shifts (7:00 PM–7:00 AM), three 12-hour shifts per week, managing laboring patients and supporting deliveries in a fast-paced acute care environment.
Clinical Role
You will provide direct care to laboring and postpartum patients, including:
- and assessment of obstetrical patients
- Sterile vaginal exams (performed independently, without supervision)
- Fetal heart rate monitoring and interpretation
- Support during vaginal and cesarean deliveries
- Newborn assessment and initial care
- High-risk antepartum and intrapartum management
- Postpartum hemorrhage recognition and treatment
- Couplet care and breastfeeding support
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years Labor and Delivery experience (1.5 years may be considered with strong expertise)
- AWHONN Advanced certification (required to pass)
- Independent competency in sterile vaginal exams
- ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications
- Compact license in hand at submission
- Current experience with EHR systems required
Unit Details
- Float to Mother-Baby unit: Yes
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend, may increase to meet unit need
- Scrub color: Royal blue
- Orientation: 36 hours
Schedule & Expectations
- Night shift (7:00 PM–7:00 AM), three 12-hour shifts weekly
- Must commit to working 3 of 5 designated holidays
- Scheduling requests considered but not guaranteed
- Call-in required: No
