Labor & Delivery / Postpartum RN — Travel Contract
Eureka, CA | Days | 13-Week Contract
This Labor & Delivery and Postpartum unit cares for a high-risk obstetric and culturally diverse patient population. RNs circulate on cesarean sections and provide comprehensive couplet and newborn care. The unit averages 15–20 patients daily across a combined L&D and postpartum setting.
Shift & Schedule
- Day shift, 3×12-hour shifts (06:00–18:00)
- Start date: ASAP
- 26-week contract
- Weekend coverage required to meet staffing needs
- Must commit to 3 of 5 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- All RTO requests (maximum 7 days) must be submitted upfront at time of offer
Clinical Scope
- Labor & delivery, postpartum, and newborn care (neonates, infants, adults)
- Circulate for cesarean sections and assist with high-risk deliveries
- Magnesium sulfate therapy, oxytocin/Pitocin management, postpartum hemorrhage response
- Fetal monitoring (external and internal), IUPC placement, epidural assistance
- Breastfeeding/lactation support, newborn assessment, hypoglycemia management, phototherapy
- Pregnancy-induced hypertension management, antiseizure and antihypertensive administration
Required Certifications
- BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of L&D/postpartum experience
- Active California RN license required; compact license must be in hand at submission
- Floating within scope required; refusal to float may result in assignment termination
- Orientation: 40 hours
