Postpartum RN – Night Shift
Position Overview
The facility seeks an experienced Postpartum RN for a 26-week contract on the night shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), working three 12-hour shifts per week. This role is ideal for first-time travelers and those seeking a stable assignment in a high-acuity obstetric setting.
Clinical Scope
You will provide care for postpartum patients and neonates in a high-risk obstetric unit serving a culturally diverse population. Your responsibilities include:
- Postpartum assessments (fundus, lochia, perineum care)
- Newborn assessments and thermoregulation
- Breastfeeding support and education
- Management of postpartum hemorrhage and hypertensive emergencies
- Administration of blood products and IV medications (magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, antiseizure agents)
- Assistance with cesarean section circulation
- Cord care, infant identification, and discharge teaching
- Use of fetal monitoring systems and infusion pumps
Requirements
- License: California state license required at time of submission
- Experience: Minimum 1 year postpartum or L&D nursing
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate
- Flexibility: Willing to float to meet staffing needs and work weekends as scheduled
Scheduling & Expectations
- Weekend coverage required
- Must commit to working 3 of 5 holiday shifts (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day)
- All time-off requests must be submitted upfront; post-offer changes may not be granted
- One week of paid time off included
