Labor & Delivery / Postpartum RN — Night Shift | Eureka, CA
This 26-week travel contract is a night shift position (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 3x12-hour shifts) supporting a Labor & Delivery and Postpartum unit that cares for a high-risk OB and culturally diverse patient population. RNs circulate on cesarean sections. The unit serves neonates, infants, and adult patients with an average daily census of 15–20.
Shift & Schedule
- Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 3x12s
- Weekend shifts required to meet staffing needs
- 40-hour orientation
- Pre-approved time off: no more than 7 days per contract; must commit to 3 of 5 winter holidays
- Float to sister facilities may be required; refusal may result in contract termination
Required Certifications
- BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
Licensure
- Active California RN license required (pending licenses not accepted)
- Compact license must be in hand at submission
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of L&D or postpartum experience
Key Clinical Skills
- Couplet care, newborn assessment, and lactation support
- Postpartum hemorrhage recognition and management
- Magnesium sulfate therapy and pregnancy-induced hypertension management
- Cesarean section circulating and recovery
- External and internal fetal monitoring
- Labor , epidural assistance, and oxytocin administration
