Postpartum RN – Eureka, CA
Position Overview
The facility is seeking a Postpartum RN to join the labor and delivery team. You'll provide compassionate care to postpartum patients and newborns in a culturally diverse setting that includes high-risk obstetric patients.
Schedule & Details
- Shift: Day, 3 x 12-hour (6:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Start Date: ASAP
- Weekends: Required to meet staffing needs
- Patient Ratios: 1–3
- Daily Census: 15–20 patients
- Floating: Yes, within scope to meet facility needs
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year postpartum/mother-baby experience
- California state license (Compact license acceptable; must be in hand at submission)
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, AWHONN Intermediate, NRP
- Proficiency with external fetal monitoring, IV management, and medication administration
- Experience with cesarean section circulation, high-risk delivery support, and breastfeeding/lactation education
Clinical Scope
You'll manage postpartum recovery, newborn assessment and care, cord care, thermoregulation, foley management, blood product administration, anticoagulation and antihypertensive therapy, and patient/family education including discharge teaching and car seat safety.
Interdisciplinary Support
Work alongside physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, pharmacy, radiology, and rapid response teams.
First-time travelers welcome. Orientation: 40 hours. One pre-approved day off per contract. You may be asked to float to nearby sister facilities; refusal may result in assignment termination.
