Labor & Delivery / Postpartum RN — Night Shift | Eureka, CA | 13-Week Contract
This travel RN opportunity is ideal for an experienced L&D nurse comfortable managing high-risk OB patients in a culturally diverse setting. The unit provides comprehensive maternal and newborn care, and RNs are expected to circulate on cesarean sections.
Shift & Schedule
- Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 3x12-hour shifts
- Start date: October 19, 2026
- 13-week contract
- Weekend shifts required to meet staffing needs
- Must commit to working 3 of 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day
- Float within scope required; travelers float first
Required Certifications & Licensure
- Active California RN license (no pending licenses; compact license must be in hand at submission)
- BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of L&D experience
- First-time travelers welcome
Clinical Scope
- High-risk antepartum and postpartum care
- Labor and delivery, including C-section circulation and recovery
- Couplet and newborn care: assessment, hypoglycemia management, phototherapy, NAS
- Magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, antihypertensives, antiseizure medications
- External and internal fetal monitoring, IUPC placement
- Postpartum hemorrhage recognition and management
- Patient and family education including breastfeeding support and discharge teaching
Additional Details
- Orientation: 40 hours
- All RTO must be submitted upfront at time of submittal
- 2 professional references required (within the last 3 years)
- Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility may be considered under local guidelines
