Labor & Delivery / Postpartum RN — Night Shift | Eureka, CA | 13-Week Contract
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced OB nurse ready to care for a high-risk, culturally diverse patient population in an active Labor & Delivery and postpartum setting.
Shift & Schedule
- Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 3x12-hour shifts
- Start Date: ASAP (on or around October 19, 2026)
- Weekend shifts required to meet staffing needs
- Holiday commitment required (3 of 5: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
Unit Overview
The unit manages high-risk antepartum and intrapartum patients alongside postpartum and newborn couplet care. RNs circulate for cesarean sections and support vaginal deliveries. The interdisciplinary team includes pharmacy, respiratory services, social services, phlebotomy, and rapid response support.
Float Requirements
Travelers float within scope to meet facility needs and may be asked to float to nearby sister facilities. Refusal to float may result in assignment termination.
Required Certifications
- BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
Required Skills Include
- C-section circulation and recovery
- High-risk antepartum and postpartum care
- Magnesium sulfate and Pitocin management
- External and internal fetal monitoring
- Postpartum hemorrhage recognition and response
- Newborn assessment, hypoglycemia management, and phototherapy
- Breastfeeding and lactation support; discharge education
Minimum Requirements
- 1 year of L&D experience
- Active California RN license (no pending licenses accepted)
- New travelers welcome
- RTO: No more than 7 days; must be submitted upfront
