ICU/CCU Nurse – Night Shift

Contract Details

• Duration: 15 weeks
• Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Start Date: December 14, 2026
• Location: Downey, CA

About the Role

The facility's ICU/CCU manages high-acuity adult and geriatric patients with complex, multi-system conditions. You'll provide direct care to critically ill patients, including those recovering from cardiac interventions, experiencing acute stroke, or in organ failure.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage hemodynamic monitoring and interpret dysrhythmias
• Titrate cardiac and vasoactive medications
• Care for ventilated patients; manage sedation, paralysis, and procedural sedation
• Place and maintain arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, and peripheral IVs
• Perform 12-lead EKG interpretation and obtain EKGs
• Manage acute stroke protocols and hypothermia care
• Assist with chest tube management and wound care
• Administer blood products and manage renal failure protocols
• Provide respiratory support (BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, ventilator management)

Requirements

• License: Valid California RN license
• Experience: Minimum 3 years in ICU/CCU
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI, NIHSS, MAB or VIP (CCRN preferred)
• Skills: Advanced assessment and hemodynamic management; comfort with complex medication titration and invasive line care

Scheduling

• Every other weekend required
• Must be willing to work holidays
• Possible float to intermediate care, telemetry, or medical telemetry units
• Time-off requests must be submitted at assignment start and cannot be changed

Pre-Assignment Requirements

• Advanced EKG exam (80% pass required; one onsite attempt)
• Required clinical and non-clinical modules prior to start
• References and certification copies required with submission
