Labor & Delivery RN — 13-Week Contract
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a 13-week assignment. This is a day shift role (7:00 AM–7:30 PM, three 12-hour shifts per week) with weekend and on-call requirements. First-time travelers are welcome.
About the Unit
You'll work in a busy perinatal department managing both low- and high-risk labor and delivery patients. The unit includes , Labor/Delivery/Recovery (LDR) rooms, operating rooms for cesarean deliveries, NICU, and postpartum care. You'll collaborate closely with 24 OB hospitalists and OB anesthesia staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to neonates, adolescents, and adults
- Monitor external fetal heart rate patterns and recognize/respond to abnormalities
- Circulate for cesarean sections
- Float to other perinatal areas as needed
- Participate in on-call duty (2 times per month) in addition to scheduled shifts
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years nursing experience
- Current California RN license
- BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced certifications
- Proficiency with electronic health records required
- Willingness to work 4 weekend shifts per month and most holidays
- Smoke/nicotine-free environment (arrive free of tobacco odor)
- Advanced EKG exam (80% minimum score; two attempts allowed)
Schedule & Time Off
- Day shift: 7:00 AM–7:30 PM, three 12-hour shifts weekly
- 4 weekend shifts monthly (Friday or Saturday nights)
- 2 mandatory on-call shifts monthly
- Maximum 3 days time-off request during contract
- No time off during first two weeks
- One holiday time-off request may be submitted but is not guaranteed
