Medical/Surgical Telemetry RN — Night Shift | Wilmington, NC

This 13-week (with potential for up to 26 weeks) night shift contract places you on a busy Med/Surg Telemetry unit caring for adult and geriatric patients with complex medical diagnoses.

Shift & Schedule

• Nights: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM, 3×12-hour shifts
• 36 or 48 hours per week accepted
• Weekend requirement: 12–16 shifts per contract; must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Floating within or near the facility is required

Patient Population & Clinical Scope

The unit manages a broad range of diagnoses including diabetes, ia, COPD, sepsis, GI bleed, encephalopathy, dementia, anemia, and hip fractures, with a dedicated isolation area for COVID patients. Stepdown-level care on the unit is managed by stepdown staff.

Required Skills

• Remote telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• IV insulin protocols, heparin drips, and PCA management
• Blood product administration, PICC/central line management, phlebotomy
• Colostomy care, feeding tube management, wound care/wound vac
• Pre/post hemodialysis management, chest tube care
• Non-invasive airway management: CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, oxygen therapy, oral suctioning
• Isolation precautions

Certifications & Licensure

• BLS required
• NC or Compact license (pending accepted at submission)
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Additional Details

• Minimum 2 years Med/Surg or Telemetry experience required; first-time travelers accepted
• Orientation: 24 hours (hospital orientation during week one — daily availability required)
• RTO: Up to 7 days, pre-approved only; no RTO during first week or after signing
• Contract staff may be assigned to Storm/Hurricane Team response
• Scrubs: Navy and/or white
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
