Medical-Surgical RN | 13-Week Contract

Location: Birmingham, AL

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Unit: Medical-Surgical

Start Date: October 12, 2026

About the Role

The facility is seeking an experienced RN for its medical-surgical unit. You'll provide comprehensive care to adult patients with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions, from post-operative recovery to chronic disease management (diabetes, cardiac, respiratory).

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, monitor, and respond to changes in patient condition; escalate care as needed
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
• Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound care and pain management
• Coordinate interdisciplinary care and discharge planning
• Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and discharge instructions
• Document assessments and interventions accurately in the EMR
• Maintain infection control and fall prevention protocols
• Manage a typical patient load of 4–6 patients per shift

Requirements

• Active RN license in state (or compact license)
• Minimum 1+ years of med-surg nursing experience (travel experience required)
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
• CMSRN certification preferred

This is a hands-on clinical role with diverse patient populations and acuity levels. Night shift experience is a plus.
