Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse
Position Overview
The facility is seeking experienced Labor & Delivery nurses for the night shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM). This is a 13-week contract position with guaranteed 36 hours per week.
Unit Overview
Essential Clinical Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years obstetric nursing experience
- Expertise in vaginal exams and fetal monitoring
- Proficiency as a cesarean section circulator and post-operative recovery care
- Management of laboring patients through delivery and recovery
- Care of high-risk antepartum patients (gestational hypertension, gestational diabetes)
- Recognition and response to obstetrical emergencies, including hemorrhage
- Immediate newborn care (first hour of life), including breastfeeding support
- Strong critical thinking and clinical judgment
Required Certifications
- BLS, ACLS, NRP
Preferred Qualifications
- Operating room scrub experience
- NCC certification in Inpatient Obstetrics or Fetal Monitoring
Typical Procedures
Vaginal exams, labor management, cesarean delivery support, NST/CST/BPP testing, OB assessments, cervical cerclage, and assisted deliveries.
Unit Culture
Team-oriented environment valuing flexibility, adaptability, and collaboration. Navy scrubs required. Floating to Mother Baby unit as needed.
