Surgical ICU (SICU) – RN

Location: Birmingham, AL

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

About the Role

The facility's Surgical ICU cares for critically ill post-operative and trauma patients requiring intensive monitoring and advanced life support. You'll manage high-acuity cases involving mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring, vasoactive drips, and complex wound care in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and respond rapidly to changes in patient condition; escalate as needed
• Administer titratable medications (vasopressors, sedatives) per physician orders
• Manage advanced life support equipment: ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, hemodynamic monitors
• Collaborate with intensivists and interdisciplinary teams on plan of care
• Perform code interventions and rapid response as needed
• Educate patients and families on condition and treatment
• Maintain accurate documentation and infection control protocols

Requirements

• Active RN license (state or compact)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• 2+ years of critical care/ICU experience and travel nursing experience required
• CCRN preferred
• Proficiency with ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring, and vasoactive drip management
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
