Surgical Observation Unit – Night RN
Location: Rochester, NY
Shift: Nights, 12-hour (7 PM – 7 AM)
Contract: 16 weeks
Schedule: 36 hours per week; 1 weekend shift per week or 2 weekend shifts every other weekend. Must work at least 1 holiday during contract. Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed.
About the Role
You'll provide direct patient care in a surgical observation unit managing postoperative patients across orthopedic, urology, ENT, general surgery, and other specialties. Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care during the night shift.
Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor postoperative patients across multiple surgical specialties
- Collaborate with physicians, case management, and clinical staff
- Promote safe patient outcomes and evidence-based practice
- Float to other units as needed based on facility census
Requirements
- Active New York RN license
- AHA BLS certification
- Minimum 2 years acute hospital experience
- At least 1 recent year in surgical nursing
- Non-U.S. candidates must have 2 years of U.S. work experience
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
- Flexibility with scheduling needs
