Registered Nurse – Surgical Observation Unit
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced RN for its Surgical Observation Unit, which provides postoperative care to patients recovering from orthopedic, urology, ENT, and general surgical procedures. You'll deliver direct patient care, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and uphold safe, evidence-based nursing practices in a dynamic acute-care setting.
Shift & Schedule
- 12-hour rotating nights/days (7 PM–7 AM / 7 AM–7 PM)
- 36 hours per week
- 1 weekend shift per week or 2 weekend shifts every other weekend
- Minimum 1 holiday shift required during contract
- Block scheduling available upon request (not guaranteed)
- Must remain flexible to facility scheduling needs
Staffing & Float
Charge nurse duties are available but not required. You may be asked to float to other units based on census and acuity needs.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years acute hospital experience; at least 1 recent year in surgical observation or related postoperative specialty
- 2 years U.S. work experience required for international candidates
- Active New York RN license
- AHA BLS certification
- Residence more than 50 miles from the facility
