Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse – 12-Week Contract
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 12-hour nights
Schedule: Every other weekend; modified self-scheduling
Contract Length: 12 weeks (36 guaranteed hours per week)
Start Date: October 12, 2026
About the Role
The facility's Labor & Delivery unit is a high-volume obstetric service managing 160–200 births per month. You'll work in a dynamic environment delivering comprehensive intrapartum care, circulating for cesarean sections in two on-site OR suites, and triaging expectant mothers. The unit follows AWHONN guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios.
Key Responsibilities
- Circulate and assist with cesarean deliveries
- Monitor and interpret fetal heart tracings using bedside telemetry (you will read your own strips)
- Perform neonatal resuscitation and stabilization
- Rare floating to mother-baby units as needed
- Collaborate with surgical techs, OB/neonatologists, and anesthesia — all in-house 24/7
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license (TX)
- ACLS, BLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring Certification
- Active L&D experience
- Ability to read and interpret fetal monitoring strips independently
What to Expect
Comprehensive unit-specific orientation provided. Scrubs: royal blue. No call requirement. Hospital may cancel up to 3 shifts during your 12-week assignment per policy.
