Labor & Delivery (LDRP) — Registered Nurse | Sacramento, CA
12-Hour Days | 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM | 14-Week Contract
This is a high-acuity, high-risk LDRP position offering full-spectrum couplet care from admission through postpartum discharge. Candidates must be comfortable managing all aspects of labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum — including circulating C-sections.
Clinical Scope
- Patient population includes preterm labor, antepartum bleeding, inductions, cesarean sections, and hypertension
- Titration of drips required (including Pitocin)
- Must read and interpret EKG strips for mothers in PACU
- NRP/Baby Catcher role is a shift-long assignment, shared between L&D and NICU staff based on availability
- OB hospitalist on-site 24/7; neonatology on call 24/7 with daily rounding; anesthesia in-house 24/7; OB surgical techs on unit
Schedule & Staffing
- 12-hour day shifts; shift start 6:45 AM with bedside report
- Every other weekend required
- First to float; mid-shift float to other Sacramento-area facilities is rare but possible
- On-call response time: 30 minutes
- Overtime and extra shifts available
- Travelers work 2 of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week
Required Certifications
- BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring
- STABLE certification preferred
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to float to Mother-Baby and circulate C-sections
- 2 supervisory references required at submission (1 within 12 months, 1 within 3 years)
