Cardiac Telemetry / PCU-Level RN — Merced, CA

13-Week Contract | 12-Hour Days | 36 Hours Guaranteed

This high-acuity telemetry position functions at a PCU/stepdown level and requires candidates with prior telemetry, stepdown, or PCU experience. Stroke certification is required, as the unit manages post-CVA patients along with CHF, respiratory failure, diabetes, hypertension, and post-op cases including post-cardiac cath patients. Travelers are not assigned cath/PCI patients directly.

Shift & Schedule

• 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• 2 weekends per 4-week period
• Holidays consistent with core staff expectations (one major, two minor)
• No block or set scheduling accommodated

Clinical Details

• Non-titrating drips; cardizem may be present; heparin titration required; no insulin drips
• BiPAP management; nurses must independently read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips (remote monitoring by monitor techs, with bedside monitors also available)
• Primary nursing model — nurse aides available but not guaranteed
• Float to med-surg telemetry floors as first to float
• Hospitalist in-house 24/7; RT and pharmacy available 24/7; no IV team; no call
• Charge Nurse on each shift, typically non-patient-carrying
• Orientation: 2 shifts (with relevant EMR experience) or 3 shifts (without)

Required Certifications

• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Contract Notes

• 50-mile radius rule applies; local rates not available
• Standby response time: 30 minutes; unused standby counts toward cancellation policy
• Up to 4 shift cancellations allowed per 13-week contract
