Medical-Surgical Float Pool RN — Boston, MA

8-Week Contract | Rotating Days & Nights | Start Date: February 1

This float pool position supports a broad range of medical-surgical units, covering specialties including neurology, cardiac, bariatric, general medicine, general surgery, gynecology, genitourinary, orthopedics (hips and joints), oncology, transplant (liver and kidney), and vascular care.

Schedule

• Rotating day, evening, and night shifts combining 8- and 12-hour shifts
• Every 4-week period includes one 12-hour shift and three 8-hour shifts per week
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
• No on-call required
• Guaranteed 72 hours biweekly
• When rotation between days/nights occurs, a few days' buffer is provided when possible

Clinical Scope

• Unit procedures include 12-lead EKGs, Lasix drips, blood transfusions, and telemetry monitoring
• Respiratory therapists manage ventilators; RNs are responsible for nebulizer administration

Float Requirements

• Assignments rotate across multiple medical-surgical units
• Unit placement is typically communicated 2–3 weeks in advance; same-day assignments (2 hours prior to shift) are possible

Requirements

• Active Massachusetts RN license required at time of submission
• Minimum 3 years of RN experience
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• BLS and ACLS (AHA) required
• Basic computer navigation skills required
• Teaching hospital or specialty area experience preferred

• Any color scrubs accepted
• Weekly Monday orientation (holiday exceptions apply)
• All RTO requests must be submitted at time of application; no more than three days will be approved; holiday RTO is not available
