Progressive Care Unit (PCU) — Night Shift | Winchester, MA
Contract: 8 weeks | Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour nights) | Guaranteed Hours: 72 biweekly (on-call hours not included)
About the Role
This PCU position involves caring for intermediate-acuity patients requiring close monitoring and skilled nursing intervention. Candidates must be comfortable titrating pressors — this is a firm requirement. The unit manages a diverse patient population and expects flexibility across the care continuum.
Schedule
- 12-hour night shifts
- Every other weekend required (Fri, Sat, Sun for night shift)
- Start dates are every Monday
Floating
- Floating occurs in 4-hour blocks during the shift
- Expected float destinations include ED holds, inpatient holds, PACU, and other boarding units
Certifications
- BLS (AHA) — required
- ACLS (AHA) — preferred
- NIHSS — preferred
Experience Requirements
- Must be able to titrate pressors
- High-acuity or trauma-level experience strongly preferred; required for candidates without prior travel nursing experience
- Day-one pass/fail competency testing will be administered; practice materials available in advance
