Medical-Surgical Float Pool RN | Boston, MA

8-Week Contract | Rotating Days & Nights

This float pool position supports a broad range of medical-surgical units, covering specialties including neurology, cardiac, bariatric, general medicine, general surgery, gynecology, genitourinary, orthopedics, oncology, liver and kidney transplant, and vascular care.

Shift Structure

Shifts are a combination of 8- and 12-hour rotations covering days, evenings, and nights. Every four weeks, one week will consist of one 12-hour shift and three 8-hour shifts. Rotation between days/evenings and nights is minimized, but when necessary, a few days' buffer is provided. Every other weekend and all holidays are required. No on-call required.

Assignment Details

• Guaranteed hours: 72 per biweekly pay period (on-call hours excluded)
• Travel RNs are typically assigned to a unit for 2–3 week periods; some assignments may be given up to 2 hours before shift
• Set schedules are not available, though approved RTO is honored
• No more than three RTO days per contract; no holiday RTO approved
• Orientation held weekly on Mondays (excluding holidays)

Clinical Responsibilities

• 12-lead EKGs, Lasix drips, blood transfusions, telemetry monitoring
• Nebulizer administration; ventilator management handled by respiratory therapy

Requirements

• Active Massachusetts RN license required
• Minimum 3 years of RN experience, prior travel experience required
• BLS and ACLS (AHA) required
• High-acuity and teaching hospital experience preferred
• Any color scrubs accepted
• Public transportation available; parking fees may apply when working day shifts
