Telemetry Nurse – North Charleston, SC
Position Overview
The facility seeks an experienced RN for its telemetry unit. This is a 13-week contract position working the night shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM).
Schedule & Expectations
- Three 12-hour shifts per week
- Every other weekend and holidays in rotation with hospital staff
- Float assignments: Travelers are the first to float. You may be assigned to the emergency department, PCU, or telemetry monitoring room as needed.
Unit Details
You'll care for telemetry patients and those recovering from cardiac procedures including PCI, percutaneous pacemaker placement, ICD insertion, and ablation. The unit uses a structured bedside shift report and implements AIDET principles and RN/MD rounding for patient engagement.
Required Clinical Skills
- Proficiency in telemetry strip interpretation
- Management of cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitroprusside, Dobutamine)
- Phlebotomy and foley catheter care with nurse-driven removal protocols
- Administration of respiratory treatments (inhalers and nebulizers)
- Discharge planning and patient education
- Strong time management and interdepartmental collaboration
Qualifications
- RN or LPN with minimum 30 months experience
- One successful previous travel assignment
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- NIH Stroke Scale certification required
- Navy uniform required
