Critical Care Nurse – Night Shift

Position Overview

The facility seeks an experienced Critical Care Nurse for a 13-week contract on the night shift (7 PM – 7 AM). You'll provide high-level care to post-cardiothoracic surgery patients and critically ill individuals with multiple comorbidities in a fast-paced, clinically complex environment.

Clinical Scope

Your patient population includes those recovering from CABGs and other cardiothoracic procedures. You'll manage advanced support devices (IMPELLA, balloon pumps, Arctic Sun, TABLO XT/CRRT) and deliver care to patients on multiple drips with evolving clinical needs. You'll assess and intervene across the full nursing process—from initial assessment through discharge planning—while attending to the psychological, emotional, and social dimensions of patient and family care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide complex nursing care utilizing assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
• Administer medications and treatments per protocol; monitor effectiveness and side effects
• Educate patients and families based on assessed learning needs
• Document thoroughly and communicate with the interdisciplinary team
• Delegate appropriately to support staff as the clinical situation demands

Requirements

• RN License (TX or compact state)
• Current BLS certification (AHA)
• Current ACLS certification (AHA)
• Minimum 1 year critical care experience preferred (new graduates considered)
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred

Onboarding

New hires complete orientation within the first 30 days and receive preceptor support during the transition. Annual competency validation is required.
