Wound Care Nurse – Brooklyn, NY
Position Overview
The facility is seeking a Registered Nurse with wound care expertise to join its clinical team. You'll assess, treat, and manage patients with acute and chronic wounds—including pressure injuries, surgical wounds, and diabetic ulcers—while developing and implementing individualized care plans based on wound type and patient condition.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive wound assessments and wound care procedures, including dressing changes, debridement, and application of advanced wound therapies
- Develop, revise, and evaluate wound care standards; assist in selection of supplies and technology
- Monitor wound healing progress and adjust treatment plans as indicated
- Provide ostomy and continence-related care and education to patients and families
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and the interdisciplinary team on plan of care
- Educate nursing staff facility-wide on wound prevention and best practices
- Assess patients at risk for pressure injuries and initiate preventative measures
- Ensure infection control and safety protocols during all procedures
- Participate in quality improvement and hospital-wide nursing quality activities
- Document assessments, treatments, and progress accurately and maintain confidentiality
Requirements
- Active RN license (New York State required)
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in nursing
- BLS certification (current)
- One or more years of wound care experience
- Current certification in one of the following:
- Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN)
- Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON)
- Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN)
- Certified Wound Specialist (CWS)
- Wound Care Certified (WCC)
Position Details
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM (5 × 8-hour days)
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Start Date: October 14, 2026
