Labor & Delivery RN – Bronx, NY
Position Overview
The facility seeks an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a 13-week contract. You will work the night shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) providing direct care to laboring patients and supporting vaginal and cesarean deliveries.
Required Qualifications
- Active New York State RN license with primary source verification from NYSED
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) minimum; BSN preferred
- AHA BLS, ACLS, and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications
- Minimum 2 years of maternal and child health experience
- Minimum 2 years of IV insertion and phlebotomy experience
- Minimum 2 years of conscious sedation experience
- Demonstrated experience with fetal monitoring, high-risk obstetric conditions, and labor management
Preferred Qualifications
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor maternal and fetal status throughout labor and delivery; assess and interpret fetal heart rate tracings and uterine contractions
- Administer medications including labor induction and epidural support per physician orders
- Assist with vaginal deliveries and provide circulating support for cesarean sections
- Manage high-risk OB emergencies (preeclampsia, hemorrhage, fetal distress) with appropriate interventions
- Provide immediate newborn resuscitation and care as needed
- Educate patients and families on labor progression and pain management options
- Collaborate with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and NICU teams
- Maintain accurate EMR documentation
