Medical-Surgical Nurse – Bronx, NY

Position Overview

The facility is seeking a Medical-Surgical Nurse to join its inpatient unit. You'll provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions, including those with chronic diagnoses such as diabetes, cardiac, and respiratory conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care in consultation with the healthcare team
• Monitor vital signs and patient condition, escalating changes as needed
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
• Perform wound care, insert catheters, start IVs, and manage dressings
• Provide pre- and post-operative nursing care, including pain management
• Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, medications, and discharge instructions
• Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and the interdisciplinary team on discharge planning
• Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record
• Ensure infection control and fall prevention protocols are followed

Requirements

• Active RN license in New York (or valid compact license)
• Associate Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of Med-Surg experience in acute care; most recent experience within the past year
• AHA BLS certification required
• AHA ACLS certification (required for this location)
• Physical assessment, medication administration, IV therapy, telemetry monitoring, and wound care skills
• Proficiency in patient education and post-operative care

Shift & Duration

• 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• 13-week contract (no extension)
• Start date: October 12, 2026
