Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Nurse – 13-Week Contract

Location: Elizabethtown, KY

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week (includes weekends and holidays)

Start Date: October 19, 2026

About the Role

The facility's Progressive Care Unit serves moderate-acuity patients requiring closer monitoring than medical-surgical floors but not ICU-level care. You'll manage patients transitioning from intensive care or at risk of clinical deterioration, providing skilled assessment and timely intervention.

Key Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs, recognizing and responding to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications, including select IV drips, per physician orders
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
• Educate patients and families on their condition, treatment, and recovery process
• Manage a moderate patient load (typically 3–4 patients) within facility guidelines
• Respond to rapid response and code interventions as needed
• Ensure infection control and fall prevention protocols are consistently followed
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately

Required Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted RN license (or compact license as applicable)
• BLS certification; ACLS required
• Minimum 1+ year of PCU or step-down unit experience
• Demonstrated experience with telemetry monitoring and moderate-acuity patient management
• ADN required; BSN preferred

Preferred Qualification

• PCCN (Progressive Care Certified Nurse)
