Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse

Location: Elizabethtown, KY

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 3 days per week (12-hour shifts)

Schedule: Weekend and holiday rotation

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Start Date: October 19, 2026

About the Role

Join the facility's Progressive Care Unit, where you'll provide nursing care to moderate-acuity patients who require closer monitoring than general medical-surgical units but do not need ICU-level care. You'll work with patients transitioning from ICU, those at risk of clinical deterioration, and those requiring continuous cardiac monitoring and vital sign assessment.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs continuously; identify and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications, including select IV drips, per physician orders
• Assess, educate, and support patients and families throughout their hospital stay
• Collaborate with physicians, intensivists, and the interdisciplinary care team
• Respond to rapid response and code interventions as needed
• Manage a moderate patient load (typically 3–4 patients) in accordance with acuity and staffing guidelines
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the electronic medical record
• Ensure infection control and fall prevention protocols are consistently followed

Required Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted RN license (or compact license) in Kentucky
• ADN or ASN (BSN preferred)
• BLS certification required; ACLS certification required
• 1+ years of progressive care or step-down unit experience
• Demonstrated experience with telemetry monitoring and moderate-acuity patient management

Preferred Qualifications

• PCCN (Progressive Care Certified Nurse) certification
