Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Nurse – Night Shift

Location: Elizabethtown, KY

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 3x12 | Weekends and holidays included

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Start Date: October 19, 2026

About the Role

The facility is seeking an experienced RN to join the Progressive Care Unit, caring for patients who require closer monitoring than standard medical-surgical units but do not need full ICU-level care. You'll manage moderate-acuity patients transitioning from ICU, those at risk of deterioration, and those requiring telemetry monitoring and continuous vital sign assessment.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs; recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications, including select IV drips, per physician orders
• Assess and manage patients at risk of clinical decline; support rapid response and code interventions as needed
• Collaborate with physicians, intensivists, and the interdisciplinary care team on individualized treatment plans
• Provide patient and family education on condition, treatment, and recovery
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately
• Manage a moderate patient load (typically 3–4 patients) following facility acuity guidelines
• Ensure compliance with infection control and fall prevention protocols

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted RN license in Kentucky (or compact license as applicable)
• ADN or ASN (BSN preferred)
• BLS certification required; ACLS required
• 1+ years of PCU or step-down experience
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and moderate-acuity patient management
• PCCN certification preferred
