REGISTERED NURSE – PROGRESSIVE CARE UNIT

Location: Elizabethtown, KY

Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, three 12-hour shifts per week (weekend and holiday rotation)

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Start Date: October 19, 2026

ABOUT THE ROLE

The facility's Progressive Care Unit (PCU) manages moderate-acuity patients transitioning from intensive care or at risk of clinical deterioration. You'll provide skilled nursing care that bridges the gap between ICU and medical-surgical units, with a focus on continuous monitoring, early intervention, and patient education.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs; identify and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications, including select IV drips, per physician orders
• Assess patients at risk for deterioration and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team on individualized care plans
• Provide patient and family education on conditions, treatments, and recovery expectations
• Respond to rapid response and code interventions as needed
• Manage a moderate patient load (typically 3–4 patients) per unit acuity guidelines
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient response accurately
• Maintain infection control and fall prevention protocols

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Active, unrestricted RN license in Kentucky (or compact license as applicable)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• ADN or ASN minimum; BSN preferred
• 1+ years of PCU or step-down nursing experience
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and moderate-acuity patient management

PREFERRED

• BSN degree
• PCCN (Progressive Care Certified Nurse) certification
