Med Surg

Medical/Surgical RN — Night Shift | Frankfort, KY

This 13-week travel contract places you on a general medical/surgical unit operating nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), three 12-hour shifts per week, with every other weekend required.

Unit Overview

The unit manages a diverse med/surg population with telemetry monitoring capabilities. Clinical scope includes post-percutaneous coronary intervention care, CPAP management, port access, paracentesis, and continuous telemetry monitoring. Advanced cases may involve chest tubes, NG tubes, wound vacs, drains, post-dialysis assessments, central lines, and blood transfusions.

The unit team includes charge nurses, RNs, LPNs, patient care technicians, nurse externs, and unit clerks, with full leadership support from a director, manager, and clinical educator.

Float Requirements

Travelers may float to a post-surgical med/surg unit or a progressive care unit to support telemetry overflow.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum two years of med/surg experience
• Telemetry experience required
• Post-PCI experience required
• Active RN license in good standing (compact accepted where applicable)
• BLS required
• ACLS preferred
• Current NIH Stroke Scale certification (renewed annually)

Preferred Skills

• EKG interpretation
• Chest tube, NG tube, wound vac, and drain management
• Post-dialysis assessment
• Central line care and blood transfusion administration

Dress Code

Navy blue or gray scrubs required. Patterned scrub jackets and long-sleeve underlayers are permitted. Royal blue scrubs are not allowed.
