Registered Nurse – Family Birthing Center

Position Overview

The facility seeks a Registered Nurse for its Family Birthing Center, working nights (6 PM to 6 AM) in beautiful Salida, Colorado. This is a 13-week contract offering 36 hours per week. Weekends and holidays are required; overtime is optional.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• Current, active RN license in Colorado
• BLS and NRP certifications required; ACLS preferred
• Associate's Degree (ADN) from an accredited nursing program

Key Responsibilities

• Independently assess and evaluate labor and neonate patients using objective and subjective data
• Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and the healthcare team to establish realistic care goals
• Provide direct patient care throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum phases, including breastfeeding support
• Educate mothers on infant care and postpartum wellness
• Document all interventions and patient responses in the medical record
• Communicate patient status to physicians and nursing supervisors
• Assist with physician-led procedures
• Support nursery staff in mother/baby couplet care
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly unit environment
• Respond to emergencies in other nursing units as needed

Physical Demands

Frequent standing, reaching, stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Close vision for reading records and monitors; color and peripheral vision to observe patient changes. Must be able to detect odor changes and communicate clearly.
