Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical / Telemetry

Location: Elizabethtown, KY

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

About the Role

The facility seeks an experienced RN to join its Medical-Surgical / Telemetry unit. You'll provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with a wide range of medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions, working in a fast-paced environment where clinical autonomy and collaborative decision-making are valued.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care and perform detailed assessments using the nursing process
• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs; recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders, including cardiac drips as applicable
• Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound management and pain control
• Coordinate care for patients with chronic and acute conditions (diabetes, cardiac, respiratory diagnoses)
• Educate patients and families on their condition, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team on individualized care plans and discharge coordination
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately
• Typical patient load: 4–6 patients per shift (varies by acuity)
• Support infection control and fall prevention protocols

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted RN license in Kentucky (or compact license as applicable)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• 1+ years of Medical-Surgical or Telemetry experience
• Demonstrated telemetry/EKG interpretation competency
• ADN minimum; BSN preferred
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills
