Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical / Telemetry Float Pool

Position Overview

The facility is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the float pool, providing care across medical-surgical and telemetry units. You'll work the night shift (7 PM–7 AM), three 12-hour shifts per week, with flexibility to support unit census and patient acuity needs.

Clinical Scope

You will provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions. Core responsibilities include:

• Continuous cardiac monitoring and vital sign assessment; identifying and responding promptly to rhythm changes
• Administration of medications and treatments, including cardiac drips as ordered
• Pre- and post-operative care management, including wound care and pain management
• Coordination of care for patients with chronic and acute conditions (diabetes, cardiac, respiratory diagnoses)
• Patient and family education on treatments, medications, and discharge instructions
• Collaboration with physicians, cardiologists, case managers, and interdisciplinary teams
• Accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient responses
• Implementation of infection control and fall prevention protocols
• Typical patient load of 4–6 patients per shift (varies by acuity)

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted RN license in the state of practice (or compact license as applicable)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• 1+ years of med-surg or telemetry nursing experience
• Telemetry/EKG interpretation competency
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted
