Med Surg Tele

Med Surg / Tele RN — Travel Contract | Des Moines, IA

This 13-week travel contract places you on a general medical-surgical unit managing a broad patient population, including post-operative orthopedic patients (hips and knees), standard med-surg cases, and potential overflow psychiatric patients. Remote telemetry monitoring is in place, and heparin drips are utilized on the unit.

Shift & Schedule

• Days, 4x12-hour shifts; 48 hrs/week (36 hrs/week may be accommodated upon request)
• Every other or every third weekend depending on staffing and census
• Holiday rotation required: 1–2 of the 3 upcoming winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
• No blocked shifts

Requirements

• Minimum 24 months of recent Med Surg or Med Surg Tele RN experience
• Charge nurse experience required
• Preceptor experience a plus
• Experience with psychiatric patients preferred
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license required at time of submission

Additional Details

• Scrubs: Navy blue, solid
• Float requirement: Must be willing to float across multiple campuses within the health system
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• First-time travelers welcome
• Preference given to candidates open to extending beyond the initial 13-week contract
