Emergency Department RN — Des Moines, IA

13-Week Contract | Day Shift | 3×12-Hour Shifts

This ED position places you in a fast-paced emergency environment managing a diverse patient population that includes adults, pediatrics, and behavioral health patients. The unit handles high-acuity cases requiring vasoactive and sedation drip management, telemetry interpretation, and trauma care.

Shift & Schedule

• Days: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM | 3×12s, 36 hrs/week
• Every 4th weekend required
• Holiday rotation: 1–2 of 3 upcoming winter holidays required (if unit is open)
• No on-call obligation

Float Requirement

Travel between multiple campuses within the health system is required.

Scrubs: Navy blue, solids

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Minimum 36 months of current Emergency Department experience
• Experience caring for adult and pediatric patients
• Proficiency with sedation and vasoactive drips
• Ability to read, measure, and interpret telemetry strips
• Level II trauma experience required; Level I experience preferred
• Behavioral health patient experience highly preferred

Required Certifications (AHA or ARC)

• BLS
• ACLS
• PALS
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) — active, documented

Licensure

• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license required at time of submission
