MedSurg / Infectious Disease RN — Travel Assignment

Parkersburg, WV | 13-Week Contract | Days

This travel RN role is on a dedicated MedSurg/Infectious Disease unit providing care to patients requiring isolation precautions. All rooms are private to support infection control protocols.

Patient Population & Clinical Scope

• Infectious disease diagnoses including COVID, MRSA, C. diff, and other isolation-requiring conditions
• IV medications including heparin and standard MedSurg drips; no cardiac drips or ventilator management
• Patients may be on CPAP, BiPAP, or high-flow oxygen, managed in collaboration with respiratory therapy
• Remote telemetry monitoring available; RNs are not required to read or interpret strips

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour day shifts: 0700–1930
• Guaranteed 36 hours/week
• Every-other-weekend required (Days: Sat/Sun)
• Holiday coverage based on unit needs
• Block scheduling permitted when unit needs are met

Staffing & Support

• Charge nurse on duty 24/7; day charge may carry patients, night charge carries a full assignment
• 2 CNAs per shift
• Travelers are first to float; float assignments limited to MedSurg-scope units

Orientation

• Day 1: Charting system orientation
• Day 2: Floor orientation with preceptor
• Day 3: Independent practice

Requirements

• Active RN license
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Strong MedSurg and infectious disease background; solid understanding of isolation precautions
• BLS (AHA) required
• Scrubs: Royal blue only (scrub jacket if worn must also be royal blue — no hoodies)
