PCU / Stepdown

Stepdown (3W) — Night Shift | Uniontown, PA

13-Week Contract | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM | 36 Hours Guaranteed/Week

This step-down unit specializes in high-acuity cardiac and neurological patients, including those with dysrhythmias, CVAs, and patients transitioning down from the ICU. Candidates should be comfortable in a fast-paced environment with continuous telemetry monitoring.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Weekends as scheduled (Friday/Saturday/Sunday rotation for nights)
• Every other holiday, integrated into the permanent staff rotation
• Block scheduling available

Required Certifications

• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (all must be current)

Clinical Expectations

• Telemetry monitoring required; RNs must independently read and interpret cardiac strips
• Drip titration required: Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Heparin (insulin is set-rate only; no sedation drips)
• Experience with BiPAP, CPAP, and High-Flow oxygen therapy
• Hospitalist in-house 24/7; Intensivist coverage available for escalation
• Respiratory therapy and pharmacy support available around the clock
• May float to the ICU in a supporting role

Unit Details

• Scrub color: Navy blue (jackets, if worn, must also be navy)
• Orientation: 2 preceptored shifts
• CNA support during day and mid-shifts; no aide coverage after 11:00 PM
• Cancellation policy: Up to 2 shifts per 13-week contract
