Med/Surg Telemetry RN — Night Shift | Wilmington, NC

This 13–26 week travel contract places you on a busy Med/Surg Telemetry unit caring for adult and geriatric patients with a wide range of acute and complex diagnoses. Night shift runs 12-hour blocks (18:45–07:15), with 36- or 48-hour weeks accepted.

Patient Population & Clinical Scope

Patients present with diagnoses including diabetes, dementia, ia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleed, CHF, renal failure, surgical recovery, and more. You'll manage telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, wound care, feeding tubes, colostomy/ileostomy care, pre/post hemodialysis, and non-invasive airway support including BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula.

Required Skills & Certifications

  • Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg or MS/Tele RN experience
  • Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start
  • BLS and NIHSS required
  • Central/peripheral line management, PICC care, phlebotomy, blood product administration, IV starts
  • Use of Rapid Response/Code teams

Preferred

  • ACLS certification
  • Charge nurse experience
  • Post-angiogram, post-cardiac surgery, or post-MI experience
  • Tracheostomy care, ABG interpretation, IV insulin protocols, CBI

Schedule & Requirements

  • Shift: Nights, 4×12 (self-scheduling)
  • Every other weekend required
  • RTO: up to 7 days per contract; holidays not eligible; must work 2 of 3 major holidays
  • Float: required; candidates must be open to floating to a nearby campus
  • Call: none
  • Orientation: 24 hours
  • Scrubs: Navy blue or white
  • NC or compact license accepted; first-time travelers welcome
  • Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
