Med/Surg Telemetry RN — Night Shift | Wilmington, NC
This Med/Surg Telemetry unit in Wilmington, NC is seeking an experienced travel nurse for a night shift contract. The unit manages a diverse adult and geriatric population with diagnoses including diabetes, dementia, ia, COPD, sepsis, GI bleed, CHF, renal failure, encephalopathy, and a variety of post-surgical recovery cases.
Contract Details
- Shift: Nights, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM (3x12)
- Contract length: 13–20 weeks; 36 or 48 hours/week accepted
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Scheduling: Self-scheduling
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- Float requirement: May be required to float to a nearby campus
- RTO: Up to 7 days per contract; must work 2 of 3 major holidays
- No call requirement
- Please note: Contract staff may be assigned to a Storm or Hurricane Team and expected to report during declared emergency events
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg or MS/Tele experience
- Active RN license (NC or Compact; pending accepted at submission)
- BLS and NIHSS certifications
- Must pass EKG competency prior to start
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
Required Skills Include
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring
- Pre/post hemodialysis, renal failure management
- Blood product administration, PICC/central line care, phlebotomy
- BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, wound care/wound vac
- Colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, chest tube management
Preferred
- ACLS certification
- Charge nurse experience
- Post-surgical care: cardiac, angiogram, thoracic
- Tracheostomy care, IV insulin protocols, ABG interpretation
Scrubs: Navy blue or white
