Med/Surg Telemetry RN — Night Shift | Wilmington, NC
This Med/Surg Telemetry unit cares for adult and geriatric patients across a broad range of diagnoses, including diabetes, dementia, ia, COPD, sepsis, CHF, GI bleed, renal failure, encephalopathy, and various surgical recovery cases. The team is supported by physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, social services, rapid response teams, and more.
Shift & Contract Details
- Nights: 18:45–07:15 (3×12-hour shifts)
- Contract length: 13–20 weeks
- Self-scheduling; 24-hour unit orientation
- Every-other-weekend requirement
- Up to 7 days pre-approved RTO per contract (no holidays); must work 2 of 3 major holidays
Float & Additional Requirements
- Float may be required to a nearby campus approximately 30 minutes away
- Contract staff must be available to participate in storm/hurricane/disaster response teams
Required Certifications
- BLS, NIHSS
Preferred Certifications
- ACLS
Required Skills Include
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and management; telemetry monitoring
- BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, and non-invasive airway management
- Blood product administration, PICC line management, central line blood draws
- Pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure care
- Wound care/wound vac, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management
- Heparin, insulin, and PCA administration
Preferred Skills
- Post-angiogram, post-cardiac surgery, post-MI experience
- IV insulin protocols, CBI, tracheostomy care, ABG interpretation
- Prior charge nurse experience
Minimum Requirements
- 2 years of Med/Surg or MS/Tele experience
- First-time travelers accepted
- NC or compact license required (pending accepted for submission)
Scrubs: Navy blue or white
