ICU Float Pool RN – 4x12 Day Shift

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 17-week day shift assignment (07:00–19:30, 4 days per week). This is a float pool position; you will work across multiple units including the ICU, medical-surgical, telemetry, progressive care, overflow, and post-anesthesia care areas based on daily census and acuity needs.

Requirements

  • Active California RN license (permanent; no pending or temporary licenses)
  • Minimum 2 years ICU experience from a large acute-care facility
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
  • PA line and Swan Ganz monitoring experience required — this is a hard stop. Applicants without this skill will not be considered.
  • EKG competency exam administered on day one of orientation; passing is mandatory to continue
  • Flu vaccination required (no exemptions)
  • First-time travelers accepted with 2+ years ICU experience from a 400+ bed facility

Clinical Scope

You will care for high-acuity adult and geriatric patients across multiple ICU specialties:

  • Neuro (stroke, trauma, ICP monitoring)
  • Respiratory failure and mechanical ventilation
  • Hemodynamic instability and cardiogenic shock
  • Post-cardiac intervention complications
  • Sepsis and multisystem organ dysfunction
  • GI/GU emergencies and massive transfusion protocols
  • Transplant patients (liver, kidney, pancreas, heart/lung preferred)

Schedule & Expectations

  • No scheduling requests accommodated; full flexibility required
  • Minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period
  • No time off during the first 2 weeks
  • Maximum 2 weeks total time off for the contract duration
  • Comprehensive orientation provided
