Surgical/Trauma ICU RN — Asheville, NC

Night Shift | 13-Week Contract

This STICU assignment places you in a high-acuity surgical and trauma intensive care unit managing complex critically ill patients. The unit handles a broad scope of surgical and trauma cases, and candidates must bring prior ICU experience from a trauma or surgical critical care environment.

Shift & Schedule

  • Night shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
  • 36 guaranteed hours per week
  • 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule
  • Modified self-scheduling

Clinical Scope

The unit manages critically ill surgical and trauma patients requiring advanced ICU interventions, including:

  • Intubation/extubation, trach placement, bronchoscopy, endoscopy
  • Chest tube, central line, and arterial line placement
  • EVD and bolt placement, proning, TPA and hypertonic medication administration
  • CRRT/HD, irrigation and debridement, minor surgery
  • Continuous renal replacement therapy and temperature management

Float Policy

Travelers float before core staff. Float destinations include other ICU specialties (medical, neuro, cardiovascular, cardiac) and step-down units.

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license (NC or compact)
  • ACLS and BLS (active)
  • Trauma ICU experience at a Level I or Level II Trauma Center
  • Surgical ICU experience
  • No LTAC experience considered in lieu of acute ICU background

All navy, all white, or navy bottoms with white top.
