Progressive Care Unit (PCU) — Travel Nurse

Hermitage, TN | 13-Week Contract | Days: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

This PCU assignment places you in a step-down environment managing intermediate-acuity patients requiring close cardiac monitoring, complex drip management, and procedure support. The unit operates with tech support and a strong teamwork culture — most travelers choose to extend after their first contract.

Shift & Schedule

• Three 12-hour day shifts per week (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Every other weekend required
• Self-scheduling with 4-week schedule blocks
• Float may occur between PCU units or to med-surg floors

Patient Population & Clinical Scope

• Cardiac monitoring, stroke care, and post-cardiac cath recovery
• Drip management: cardiac, heparin, and insulin drips
• Multiple oxygen delivery modalities including BiPAP and high-flow O2
• Peritoneal dialysis, tube feedings, and NG/Dobhoff tube management
• Procedures: thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertions, central line dressing changes, wound vac troubleshooting

Required Certifications

• BLS
• ACLS

Required Skills

• EKG rhythm interpretation
• Experience with cardiac, heparin, and insulin drips
• Proficiency with BiPAP and high-flow oxygen delivery systems
• Peripheral IV skills
• Peritoneal dialysis experience preferred

• Dress code: Black scrubs
• Guaranteed hours: 36 per week
