Respiratory Therapist – Sleep Lab
Position Overview
The facility is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to join its Sleep Lab on a 13-week contract. You'll work nights (6:30 PM–6:30 AM) with weekends as scheduled, providing 36 guaranteed hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform polysomnograms, CPAP titration studies, and multiple sleep latency tests
- Detect abnormal sleep architecture, EEG/EKG abnormalities, respiratory events, and low oxygen saturation using proper testing montages
- Ensure artifact-free studies through meticulous technique
- Complete pre- and post-test equipment checks, including impedance verification and calibrations
- Obtain informed consent and complete patient questionnaires and registration
- Document comprehensive patient histories, sleep hygiene concerns, and clinical observations in event logs
- Recognize sleep states, sleep efficiency, central and obstructive apneas, and related findings
- Arrange follow-up appointments and maintain organized medical records
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy from a CoARC-accredited program
- Current RRT certification (ABSM, NBRC, or BRPT)
- BLS/CPR certification
- 1 year of sleep study scoring experience
- Valid, unexpired driver's license (50-mile radius requirement)
Physical & Work Environment
You'll work in the sleep lab with confined spaces and possible machinery vibrations. The role requires extended standing, stooping, and kneeling; fine hand-eye coordination and sustained visual focus; and ability to lift and position patients. Standard exposure to blood, body fluids, and infectious disease precautions applies.
