Pediatric Step-Down RN | Night Shift | Denver, CO

This 13-week travel assignment places you in a busy pediatric step-down unit in Denver, Colorado. The unit manages a mixed-acuity patient population, including children recovering from spinal fusions, chest tube placements, and high-flow oxygen therapy. The unit does not manage CPAP, BiPAP, trach, or ventilator patients — those cases are diverted to the PICU.

Shift & Schedule

  • Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • 36 guaranteed hours per week
  • Flexible scheduling — traveler requests are considered alongside staff requests, not after

Clinical Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of current pediatric RN experience (required)
  • BLS & NRP certification (required)
  • Proficiency with high-flow oxygen, spinal fusion care, and chest tube management (required)

Common Procedures

  • NGT, Foley, and TP tube placement
  • PIV insertion and phlebotomy
  • Lumbar punctures (rare)

What to Know

  • First-contract travelers will be placed on night shift
  • Priority consideration given to candidates with multiple travel assignments
  • All private rooms with parent sleeping accommodations
  • Charge nurses are patient-free on both shifts
  • PCTs and occasional Clinical Nurse Coordinator support available
  • On-site parking available at no cost

Ideal Candidate

A team-oriented nurse who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is comfortable asking for and offering help, and brings confidence managing pediatric step-down acuity. Prior travel experience is a strong plus.
