Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) — Travel RN

Austin, TX | 13-Week Contract | Days: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM

This high-acuity, fast-paced PICU manages a broad and complex pediatric patient population, including neurology, renal, pulmonary, surgical, and medical ICU cases. Nurses in this unit care for critically ill children across a wide spectrum of diagnoses and acuity levels.

Shift & Schedule

• Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Start date: October 11, 2026

Float Requirements

Candidates must be willing to float to additional areas as needed, including cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) and NICU.

Dress Code

Navy scrubs; pediatric print tops are permitted.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience
• Active RN license (Nursys verification required)
• BLS and PALS certifications

Clinical Scope

• High-acuity pediatric critical care
• Neurological, renal, pulmonary, surgical, and medical ICU patient populations
• Cross-coverage to CVICU and NICU environments

Onboarding Requirements

Candidates should be prepared to complete competency assessments, an EKG exam, specialty exam, and standard health documentation including immunization records (MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Hepatitis B, influenza, TB screening/IGRA), fit testing, background check, drug screen, and professional references.
