Medical-Surgical RN | 12-Hour Days | Bridgeport, WV
This 13-week contract places you on an acute care medical-surgical unit managing a diverse patient population that includes CHF, cardiac cath recovery, chest pain, ia, COPD, chronic renal disease, orthopedic, and oncology diagnoses. Note: chemotherapy administration is handled by permanent staff only.
Shift & Schedule
- 12-hour days, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Every-other-weekend required (Saturday & Sunday)
- Holiday rotation shared with permanent staff
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week
Unit Details
- Typical patient assignment: 5–6 patients; acuity-dependent variation possible late in shift
- CNAs support all units; charge nurse present on all shifts (day charge is non-patient-carrying)
- Monitor techs available; RNs must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
- Respiratory therapy in-house 24/7; RNs perform aerosols for non-vented patients and EKGs
- IV team available Monday–Friday until 10:00 PM and weekends until 3:30 PM
- In-house pharmacy available 24/7
- Float to Critical Care possible; if so, assignment will be med-surg or stepdown acuity patients
Orientation
1–2 preceptor shifts; unit-specific onboarding
Requirements
- Active RN license
- BLS certification
- Telemetry interpretation competency
- No artificial nails
- Must reside or be willing to comply with a 50-mile radius rule; unexpired driver's license required at submission
