Labor & Delivery (LDRP) RN — Travel Contract
Sacramento, CA | 12-Hour Nights | 14-Week Contract
This is a high-acuity LDRP position providing comprehensive couplet care from labor through postpartum. Candidates must be comfortable managing all aspects of the LDRP experience, including circulating C-sections, and should be prepared to care for a wide range of obstetric patients.
Unit & Clinical Scope
- High-risk OB unit managing preterm labor, antepartum bleeding, inductions, cesarean sections, and hypertension
- Approximately 140–165 births monthly
- RNs must circulate C-sections; all nurses are expected to be proficient in this role
- Titration of drips required (including Pitocin)
- EFM surveillance in use; RNs must read and interpret EKG strips for mothers in PACU
- OB surgical techs on unit; OB hospitalist in-house 24/7; neonatologist on call 24/7 with daily rounding; anesthesia in-house 24/7
Schedule & Logistics
- 12-hour nights, shift start 6:45 PM, bedside report
- Every other weekend required
- First to float; mid-shift float to other Sacramento-area facilities is rare but possible
- 30-minute call response time if placed on call
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- Travelers work 2 of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
- Scrubs provided
Required Certifications
- BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN-Advanced Fetal Monitoring
- STABLE preferred
Submission Requirements
- Two supervisor references required (charge accepted); one within 12 months, one within 3 years
- Copy of driver's license required at submittal
- California RN license required
