Medical-Surgical / Telemetry Nurse – 12-Week Contract
Position Overview
The facility is seeking experienced Med-Surg/Telemetry nurses for a 12-week contract assignment. You'll work the night shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) in an acute-care medical-surgical unit, providing direct patient care to adults with a variety of medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs continuously; respond promptly to changes in patient condition
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders, including cardiac drips as applicable
- Provide pre- and post-operative care, including wound care and pain management
- Coordinate care for patients with chronic and acute conditions (diabetes, cardiac, respiratory)
- Educate patients and families on conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
- Collaborate with physicians, cardiologists, case managers, and interdisciplinary team on care planning
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the EMR
- Maintain infection control and fall prevention protocols
Requirements
- Active RN license (Alabama state or compact license; no temporary licenses)
- Associate degree in nursing (BSN preferred)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year recent Med-Surg/Telemetry experience (18 months considered if supervised by highest license level)
- Telemetry/EKG interpretation competency
- Willing to float to other units as needed
- Availability for every other weekend and holidays as required
Schedule & Details
- Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (nights)
- Hours: 36–48 hours per week (guaranteed 36)
- Dress Code: Solid navy scrubs
